Review of Movie Download Sites

I just wanted to post here that I wrote a lengthy review of some places that I have tried for downloading some of the movies which i discuss here. I have also posted this on my regular website which has a lot more stuff than I post here because, well, it’s easier, better, and straight forawrd as opposed to hard to manage and confusingly organised. Reviews of Movie Download Sites and Services

I know that I talk a lot about how great (or bad) some films are and then I refer you to a page that has more information or a trailer for the film in question, but where can you go to get copies of these entertaining flicks? Luckily there are many services out there through which you can track down these films without every leaving your computer! Many of the sites are gateways Peer to Peer networks for which you can sign up with a one time fee and then you get a piece of software that allows you to search for films and then download them from the netwok of people sharing files legally through their server. These services are often great and the advantages include discussions with other collectors, being able to track down obscure titles, and a constant increase in films available improving your chances of finding even the most elusive of movies!

 

1. Watch Direct and The Movie Download Site

The one that I will place at the top of my list is actually two sites: Watch Direct and The Movie Download Site. They seem to be the same network and use the same software. I prefer the Watch Direct site for getting started because it is less cluttered and easier to follow, but either one is a good choice. The network here may not have the most bizarre titles, but they will have high quality files to grab and if you are looking for the latest releases then this is the network to join. They also allow sharing of other files such as games, TV shows, and MP3s, which may be of interest to some. The thing I like best, perhaps, living between the UK and the US, is that they do not restrict the country of origin for the file sharing like some networks do. That means that if you are looking for a certain format (NTSC/PAL/SECAM) or you are seeking old school Chinese films, Swedish art movies, or Mexican masked wrestler flick, you have a much better chance of finding them sucessfully here. 2. Moonlight Cinema Netwroks

The next site that I recommend is called the Moonlight Cinema Network. It was almost the top spot because they have much fewer bells and whistles and the site is simple and easy to navigate. Also their base of users seems to be more movie oriented and there is a larger number of off-the-wall titles avilable through the site. Their serives are just not quite as extensive as Watch Direct, but Moonlight Cinema Netwroks is still agreat place to grab films and they have the best money back guarantee of all the sites I checked out. Nothing flashy about them, but they are well worth looking into. I give them 4.7 Ghouls!

3. Movie Download World

Movie Download World is not a bad one either. It is somewhere between the two recommendations mentioned above in terms of flash and titles available, being relatively easy to get started and having a decent amount of titles to grab. As with most of these service, a member can choose to download straight to a burn and save hard drive space and what i like about this one is it seems to focus almost entirely on film. Nice! Basic goodness here. I give Movie Download World and healthy 4.5 Ghouls!

4. Ares and Unlimited Downloads

Ares and Unlimited Downloads seem to be the same network as with Watch Direct and The Movie Downloads Site mentioned above. I don’t like them as much because they seem to be much more flashy and have a few hidden adverts, which to me is grounds for not using the immediately, but what they do have is backing from larger companies and that means that many mainstream files are going to be there faster.

The both have the “As seen on” logos on their sites and the software appears to be the same, as I suspect is the network to which you will be connceted by signing up for this service. Regardless, they do have a lot of files here and although they are not my first choice, some people may be more comfortable using them because of their big corporation backing and you will be able to find some bad movies through these services. I give these two both 3.8 Ghouls.

5. Sharing Zone

Lastly I will point out my least favourite so far for grabbing films: a site called Sharing Zone. It is another Peer to Peer network, but this ones, although is says it includes movie downloads, seem to be almost exclusively games and sound files. Perhaps it is a great site for that, i am not sure, but for finding movies, I don’t recommend it. That’s it for now. If you are looking for hard to find titles and you want to have them fast with no worries, postage, et cetera, then joining one of these services is definitely the way to go! If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t discount Video Search of Miami or your local rental store. They will often have things hiding that no one would ever know about unless you ask.
